NDIC daily activity report no. 19616

Friday, October 16, 2026

Report 19616 approved five permits: two Oasis drill-back wells in McLean County (MHA Grizzly) and three drill-backs on a Williams County pad. XTO received two surface-location changes in Dunn County, and five wells came off confidential status in Williams, Mountrail and McKenzie counties. Burlington Resources renewed four McKenzie County permits and reported one older producing well as abandoned.

Highlights

  • 5 permits approved: Oasis Petroleum (2, McLean County, MHA Grizzly 5090) and 3 drill-backs on a Williams County pad
  • 2 surface-hole location changes: XTO Energy, Dunn County
  • 5 wells released from confidential status: Oasis (2, Williams County), Devon (Mountrail County), Whiting (McKenzie County), XTO (Williams County)
  • 4 permit renewals: Burlington Resources, McKenzie County (Dimmick Lake field)
  • 1 producer now abandoned: Burlington Resources, Barkley 1-5H, McKenzie County

The report lists an active daily rig count of 35 (down 1 from the prior report).

What it means for mineral owners: Plugged or abandoned wells can end royalty on that wellbore; owners with older wells in a unit should look at whether newer wells in the same unit have replaced the production.
