NDIC daily activity report no. 19624

Wednesday, October 28, 2026

Wednesday's report 19624 had no new permits. Burlington Resources renewed one McKenzie County permit, Hess Bakken Investments II cancelled two Mountrail County permits, and Devon Energy Williston renamed a Dunn County well. The bigger item is an operator change: six McKenzie County wells moved from Prima Exploration to White Rock Oil & Gas. The rig count rose by one to 39.

Highlights

  • 1 permit renewed: Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Company LP, Mavrud 4A-ULW, SW SW 12-151N-97W, McKenzie County, Dimmick Lake field, confidential, a proposed drill-back outside its spacing unit
  • 2 permits cancelled: Hess Bakken Investments II, LLC, EN-Van Berkom-157-93-2627H-4 and -5, NE SE 26-157N-93W, Mountrail County
  • 1 well renamed: Devon Energy Williston, Clark North 28-29-30F XS 1H (formerly Clark North 29-30HEL), NW SE 28-147N-92W, Dunn County
  • 6 wells changed operator from Prima Exploration, Inc. to White Rock Oil & Gas, LLC, all in McKenzie County: Akovenko F24-34-2H and Akovenko 24-34-1H (SE SW 34-146N-99W), Lange 11-30-1H (Lot 1 30-147N-99W), Johnston 31-4-1H (Lot 2 4-146N-99W), Lange 44-31-2H (SE SE 31-147N-99W) and Heiser 11-2-1H (Lot 3 2-145N-99W)

The active rig count was 39, up 1 from the prior report.

What it means for mineral owners: If you own minerals under any of those six Prima wells in 145N to 147N-99W, expect your royalty checks to start coming from White Rock instead. A change of operator usually means new paperwork from the new payer, so watch the mail for a division order or a letter asking you to confirm your address, and compare your decimal with your last Prima stub before you sign. If your checks stop for a month or two around the switch, that's a good time to call the new operator's owner relations group.
